The Story So Far

The recent adventures in the game will be recounted here, both for the benefit of new players and those who want a recap of their endeavours.

Arc One: The Pit-Fighting Ring

What began as a whisper of corruption in the Ravensford Cheese Board erupted into a full-blown criminal investigation. After joining the Worshipful Company of Mercenaries and founding their own band within it, our heroes took on two seemingly unrelated quests: one from the City Watch to investigate dangerous muddrake attacks, and another from a charismatic actor named Lucan Holimion, who claimed to need a giant crocodile skin, but in truth sought illicit muddrake eggs, no questions asked.

Suspicious of Lucan’s motives, the group dug deeper, alerting Captain Alira Wren of the City Watch and uncovering rumours of a brutal pit-fighting ring operating beneath The Scarlet Wren Inn. Through clever deception, including using fake muddrake eggs crafted by a professor at Ravensford University, they laid the groundwork to infiltrate the ring. Meanwhile, a sewer expedition led them to a hidden Second Flight hideout, where they discovered disturbing evidence tying the criminal syndicate to the Prism Theatre and The Scarlet Wren itself.

Their plan to expose the ring was bold: pose as fighters, gamblers, and infiltrators. During the chaos of a rigged pit fight, the party unleashed the monstrous contenders to create a stampede, seized more evidence, and captured a key figure; Brandon Lurd of the Cheese Board. The City Watch now holds him in custody, while the party holds a trove of incriminating documents, including a ciphered ledger which may link payments to shady contractors and mercenaries... some even suspected to be from their own guild.

But the plot runs deeper. A letter suggests plans to sabotage the upcoming Brightmoon Faire, a magical festival of great importance. And while Lurd is behind bars, corrupt allies remain at large, including within the very guild the heroes call home. With only days before the Faire begins, the clock is ticking.

Arc Two: The Brightmoon Faire

After dismantling the illegal pit-fighting ring beneath the Scarlet Wren Inn, the party was approached by Captain Alira Wren of the City Watch, who tasked them with attending the opening ceremony of the Brightmoon Faire to watch for signs of an emerging threat.

Amidst the laughter and lights of the eve before the Faire’s first day, they uncovered rumours of a beast that would be unleashed to sow chaos. Their investigation led them deep beneath the Royal Docks, into an ancient underground river where they confronted and slew two monstrous chimeras. Their bravery earned them the admiration of the tieflings who ran the Faire and the honour of being named special guests of the festivities. Their first day at the Faire saw them engage fully in the revellry.

The second day took a darker turn. Daisy, the party’s minotaur companion, was missing, and their search for her brought them face to face with extremist agents of the Starfall League. Discovering that Daisy had been taken hostage, the party followed the clues and pursued her captors into the mysterious Tent of Forgotten Things; a place of warping mirrors, psychic assault, and creeping amnesia.

Inside, they battled both illusion and reality, facing Starfall agents within a shifting Mirror Chamber. When the tent finally collapsed, it hurled them through time itself, depositing them at the closing night of the Faire... the very moment of catastrophe.

As the twin moons rose above Ravensford, a tiefling at the ceremony opened a vast rift in the sky. Gale-force winds howled as fey creatures poured through, dragging screaming onlookers into another realm. Among those taken were the Prince of Ravensford… and the party themselves.
