About Us

Whether you have played D&D for years or you only know it by name,

we are here to help you get started playing Dungeons & Dragons!

"Who are you?"

We are a friendly group of locals who play a game called "Dungeons & Dragons". We play at the Crowthorne Library on Saturdays between 12:30pm and 3:30pm, and if you are an adult (or a child in year 9 or above) we would love for you to join in!

The goal of these sessions is to get as many people as possible to try out the game, with no barriers to entry and no ongoing commitment.

"What is Dungeons & Dragons?"

Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is a table-top role-playing game (TTRPG).

The players play characters in a fictional setting. Players describe their characters' actions, and the actions succeed or fail according to a set of rules.

Within these rules, the players' choices shape the direction and outcome of the game.

The game is run by a Dungeon Master; they invent the setting, set the challenges, and direct the action.

"How can I get involved?"

If you're ready to play, and you're an adult (or child in year 9 and up), head to the home page to find out how to join us in an upcoming group A or B session. To drop-in to a session, simply come along at the start of a game and we will provide you with a premade character sheet, a pencil, and dice so you can try it out. There are TWO drop-in spots, available on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to those who have never played at Crowthorne Library before.

To play a character you have created, you will need to have played at least once as a drop-in player, then consult the character creation rules and submit your character for approval before being assigned a group. At that point, you can book onto any session of your group.

If you want help before taking the plunge, or if you just want to see what D&D is all about, you can arrive at the end of a session to chat with the Dungeon Master. They will be more than happy to help get you started!

You can also pop along to watch if you want to see how a game is played before joining in. Whilst you can arrive at any time to quietly observe, please remember that an active game will be in session and interruptions will disrupt play; questions and assistance will be available and encouraged after the game has ended.

Remember, there is no ongoing commitment with these sessions. If you enjoy yourself, you can keep playing as little or often as you like. If not, you can at least say you tried something different!
